This is the local reservoir and it was constructed in the late 1700’s to feed the Caldon Canal. In the 1800s it was a popular destination for daytrippers using the North Staffordshire Railway. The lake is still used for water activities such as boating, canoeing, fishing and also for walks, and for its recreational steam train. Rudyard Kipling was name after the lake.
